This is so deeply disturbing and yet, as someone who has seen too much of the inside of a hospital with loved ones, completely unsurprising:
“He diagnosed her as having “social issues,” and noted in his doctor's notes that she had a substance use disorder and generalized anxiety disorder. "
She had sepsis, which is essentially an infection run wild. It is life threatening.
The “Social Issue” in this case was clearly not with the patient, but with the hospital and it is very very common stemming from over-work and under-education. (Even doctors can be undereducated in many ways)
