"At the current rate of infection, most Americans may get Long COVID."
Dat zal wel voor de hele (i.i.g. westerse) bevolking gelden.

It was wonderful (if crazy busy) being in Basel yesterday and getting to meet old friends and people (incl. @…) for the first time in almost 20 years we've been knowing each other online! Some more snaps[1] of the generative art show @ Space31, incl. @…

Photo of a small gallery space with one wall covered by a large highres LED screen showing an abstract animation of multilayered bars in reds, pinks, whites and black. On the other wall are a couple of woven tapestries, smaller screens and prints of other generative art pieces
Three LED screens in portrait format showing abstract generative works by different artists.
A dyptich of woven tapestries hanging on the gallery wall, each side made of multiple patterns, structures, textures, curved shapes and multiple colors ( black, white, orange, pink)
A collection of 16 squared prints of works by 16 generative artists, arranged in a 4x4 grid.

COVID isn’t merely a respiratory illness;
it’s a multi-dimensional threat impacting brain function, attacking almost all of the body’s organs, producing elevated risks of all kinds, and weakening our ability to fight off other diseases.
Reinfections are thought to produce cumulative risks, and Long COVID is on the rise.
Unfortunately, Long COVID is now being considered a long-term chronic illness
— something many people will never fully recover from.

Modern “progress”

Dublin Airport received more than 26,000 noise complaints from locals in 2022, putting pressure on the local council to suppress growth.

However, it was revealed that one person was solely responsible for 23,431 of those complaints.

I love how in my Pocket the new (and surprisingly good) Fatboy Slim track in all its unhealthy hedonist (and AI) glory sits next to the latest health/abstinence NYT piece.

Finally replacing all the thermal paste on the workstations at the pharmacy. Some of them are getting very loud even idling (wasn't really affecting performance but the loudness was getting very annoying)

An open all-in-one PC with its internal components exposed, placed on a table. Various parts including the motherboard, cooling system, and power supply are visible. A screwdriver is resting on the PC. The table also has other tools and components scattered around.
