This is amazing. EA1FUO has built nec2c into WebAssembly, and now you can do antenna simulations on your phone or desktop without depending on nec2c running on a server. You can also deploy it locally, and he provides instructions for how to do this on docker or bare, and you can run nec2c on the server if you like.
Takes seconds to simulate my inverted V, and it even displays up…

It appears that I've only indirectly mentioned this antenna here before...
This is a linked dipole optimized for POTA. I use it particularly when I want to increase my chances of a successful activation when it might otherwise be challenging, such as when band conditions are marginal. The one I built is only 286g (~10 oz) including the coax feed line, and it covers all the US bands from 6m to 40m. (I didn't consider that I might some day take it to a country that has the 11m band...) I…

I have a JPC-12 vertical antenna. On the good side, it puts the coil 4' away from the base, reducing coil losses by not putting it at the point with the highest current. On the other hand, it's stainless steel with significant real resistance, so even that reduced current still heats it up substantially. Some of that heat could instead be radiated RF!
I am considering rewinding the coil with lacquered silver-coated copper wire for substantially-reduced real resistance, as KA7O…

I keep seeing #HamRadio antennas using all sort of huge devices to create links between band segments. Alligator clips. Wago blocks. Mueller clips. Mostly with the antenna wire tied to something stiff that makes it hard to roll up neatly, rather than using flexible cord. I keep looking for and not finding examples of my approach to linking.
My solution is so simple, neat, and tidy…

Photo of an antenna link between 12 meter and 15 meter segments, shown above a metric scale. The entire link is between 17 and 18 cm long. Dacron cord carries the load between the two segments, which are connected by banana plugs insulated by more heat shrink.
The same link as in the first picture, this time disconnected.
Linked dipole form showing one leg of a dipole with many links in it wound up for storage. The wire is wound in a figure eight to avoid twists. Several of the links are partially visible in it.
