BCNDP continuing to trail behind the BC Conservatives across all of the polls done so far in October.
The picture is not quite so bleak when looking at the progression of polls from the same companies. It’s a little more of a mixed bag. But the 48% for #BCCP from Angus Reid on October 2nd has to send a shiver down the NDP’s spine even though the NDP gained 4 points from the last Angus poll.
So here’s the progression for the #BCNDP. You can see the dates for each poll in the image. They are generally mid Sept, late Sept, early Oct.
*means they were leading all other parties in the poll
Liason: 41%*:39%:37%
Angus: 41%*:35%:43%
Mainstreet: 37% (next previous was April)
Ipsos: 45%*:40%
Innov: 43%*:41%*
Léger: 36% (next previous was June)
And for the #BCCP
Liason: 36%:40%*:43%*
Angus: 41%:43%*:48%*
Mainstreet: 45%*
Ipsos: 35%:42%*
Innov: 39%:39%
Léger: 39%*
We should get another bunch of polls on Monday. Only 15 days to election day and only 8 to the first advance vote!

New polls that were completed up to Oct 2nd have the #BCNDP still trailing the #BCCP.
But we’re moving into the meat of the election now, the initial shock is wearing off, and the issues are crystallizing.
It was revealed yesterday that the Conservatives sent a letter to BC lawyer groups promising to replace ICBC’s no-fault insurance — which has objectively reduced rates for people in a huge way — with a ‘hybrid’ system, that would benefit lawyers.
He didn’t release or mention the letter publicly. Now it’s out, and it’s a problem for them. As it should be!
Just another Conservative kowtowing to rich business.
#BCElection.
Will these be enough to start blunting the momentum of the BCCP or even pull it back to the NDP?

Addendum: Just noticed that both BC Conservative candidates are sharing the same Financial Agent. In fact, upon closer inspection, Albert Chen is Financial agent for 7 ridings on Vancouver Island!
Very very interesting. This could be an indication that the BCCP are having trouble finding volunteers and their basic riding associations are not well populated.
I wonder how fragile the party actually is…?

Just went and took a peek at the current provincial candidate list at Elections BC. The deadline for candidates to have their papers in is today at 1PM. (#BCCP. He is a decent person in a terrible party.
I see a lot of 2 person ridings in this list. Looks like the Greens have not been able to get a full slate, and there is only a handful of CentreBC and OneBC candidates. We will see if that changes significantly when the final list is published.
This solidifies my thought that this is going to be a really tough 2-way race with the other parties only competitive in a handful of other ridings, but that is still really important because if the two main parties stay neck and neck, then the handful of 3 or more party race could decide the balance of power in a minority government.
I am surprised to see one of the ridings next-door to mine, Nanaimo-Gabriola Island, has just two candidates as well. It is an important and active riding.
Sheila Malcolmsen (former Min) vs. Conservative Mark McDonald who is a notorious former newspaper editor made nationally famous for publishing two vile anti-First Nations racist letters in a matter of months. The newspaper closed soon after. (#bcpoli #canpoli #bcndp #bcgreens #bcelection2026

The final candidate list for the BC Election is up!
Lots of final additions.
Riding to watch! Peace River North. Kealey left the Conservatives last year and is now running as an independent. No other parties in that riding!
Jordan Kealy Independent
Curtis Whitford Conservative Party
This is the only riding the BCNDP does not have a candidate in. Looks to be a strategic move to give Kealy a better chance.
To update my list from before of the 93 ridings.
CentreBC: 34
BCCP: 93
Greens: 73
BCNDP: 92
OneBC: 33
Good to see the Greens running nearly a full slate. Very interesting to see CentreBC and OneBC with nearly the same number but not always in the same ridings. Will be interesting to see how many of the candidates in those parties actually pull significant votes! There are going to be some very interesting races!
(There are also a handful of communist, Christian heritage, and other parties and unaffiliated or independent candidates. Go Democracy!!)

Two new polls out over the past couple days. Since one of them is Léger, I’ve enlarged the screenshot to be able to see the last Léger poll, which was way back at the start of June.
I’m not sure any kind of trend can really be taken from these. Both the #BCNDP and the #CPBC have weaker numbers than their highs in the summer. The CPBC might have a slight lead overall, but it seems to also be within the margin of error of 2 of the 3 post-snap-election-call polls.
I would really like to see a Mainstreet poll, as they had OneBC at a huge 11% in the spring. The other parties taking random seats here and there are a real wildcard in this election As is the Greens picking up 1 or 2 more seats (I cannot see them losing their existing 2 seats).
Any scenario were the Greens and small rightwing parties get a handful of seats makes a minority government nearly inescapable.
I don’t think anyone can realistically predict anything from these polls, but at the same time, as the caller of the election, the NDP should be having a big think right about now.
