amazing piece but basically woke up in the middle of the night wondering about the unanswered question here: if book freak richard hell has been in the same wee spot since '74, what does he do when his shelves are full? does he have storage spaces like verlaine? does he deaccession at the strand? #nyc #books
Dear @… ,
I’ve just finished your latest #book “Moral Ambition” with that intimidating back cover text as my first one this year. I found the table of contents populistically appalling and the actual content really
Copyright / trademark question:
Why is it that an author can refer to a trademarked product in a book at their whim, but when that book gets adapted into a film or television show the product cannot be included without approval of the trademark owner?
Tagging #bookstodon because that might catch the attention of a writer or editor who knows the answer.
Wrote a chapter for the first time in a while. Work on the next book is slow, but I'm glad I took the time. Whatever you do that fulfills you, I hope everyone reading this is finding a little time for joy in between the chaos. #amwriting #bookstodon
hmm when there is a book in #Openlibrary (to add it to #bookwyrm) but I only find the english edition but not the german (which also has a different ISBN -- should I add it as a separate book?
This time even the german an english title are the same.

I was today years old when I realized the cover of the High Fidelity #book is not a guy wearing sunglasses, but rather a guy holding spoons over his eyes.
😎
Just learned that when you rate / review a #book before the official publication date, #Goodreads asks has an extra approval process asking where you got the book from and then manually vetting what you say.
I get access to a bunch of Advanced Reader Copies (ARCs) through my #publishing job, but this is the first time I tried to publicly rate one 😅
Fun to see the behind the scenes!

I was gonna do some work today, but I had to finish my book.

While it is fun having the progress shown as 3500 / 13488 with The Complete Wheel of Time ebook, I wanted to enjoy the individual covers as well.
Luckily Calibre with the epub-split plugin made that rather painless, just some metadata adjustments.
Also kudos to TOR publishing for intentionally providing a DRM-free epub, making this possible (without having to remove it beforehand)

Diving into a history book feels like journeying through time, uncovering intricate stories from ancient civilizations to World War II. Each chapter satisfies my curiosity without the hassle of travel delays. 📚 What genre captivates you when you seek both relaxation and new insights?

This book is so fun, and I’m only a little bit into it: #bookstodon
Read "How To Survive In A Science Fiction Universe" by Charles Yu, a novel about a time-machine repair-man getting stuck in a loop during his search for his father.
First person narrated, in a fictional universe in which you can travel in time but you can't change anything about the past.
It was fun and an easy read, lots of interludes about the physics of fictional universes and explanations of acausal items causing their own existence, including the book itself that you read in your hands.
Its nice if you'd like something with experimental narrative form twisting the usual story format.
