The Société de transport de Montréal (STM), the city's urban transit authority, plans to make its network completely electric by 2040 by adding 140 electric buses to its fleet annually to meet this target. It's an ambitious goal, made more challenging by the extreme swings in the city's weather every year.

I just took an electric scooter from the park and ride, and was congratulating myself on how I'd not been passed by any buses. Then I arrived to find the museum shut for another fifteen minutes, during which time four buses arrived full of warm people who paid less to get here. But they probably caught the flu, so there is that.

TransLink preparing transit services for winter weather
Deeper tread tires expanded to 70 per cent of bus fleet to help keep customers moving
TransLink is equipping roughly 500 more buses than last year with tires featuring deeper tread patterns for improved traction, to prepare for winter weather in Metro Vancouver.

Up to 1,100 buses, about 70% of the fleet and double from 2024, will be operating with Michelin Grip D tires this upcoming season.
