I just realised that the distress my #cat expressed earlier when I stepped out to the supermarket for a few minutes wasn’t separation anxiety—it was that I hadn’t left the TV on for him to watch.

Queen Jane was one of those premium cats they put out in front in the SPCA and was named Shakira when we got her -- they thought she was too social to be a "barn cat" but our barn is full of horse lessoners
