After working in the NT in the lat 80s, early 90s, I thought I'd covered every crazy story about the local politicians. ( My favourites were the MP who punched another fan while at the footy, and the Mines and Energy minister drinking water from the Ranger tailings dam to prove uranium was safe.)
I didn't expect them to keep electing crazy people in the 21st century.
"NT minister claims Earth’s magnetic poles could flip if territory doesn’t use more groundwater&quot…

One more memory from the Bayerischer Wald . Aaaand: this is one of the reasons why we like this region: it's so lush green and vivid and ... not so steep. The vegetation is just different. And so it's simply another kind of experience.
And that spot was just .. beautiful. The stream, the little path, the green, the light, the ferns, ... It's a good spot to just stand still and enjoy.

A lush, emerald-green forest cradles a lively mountain stream, its waters dancing over smooth, moss-covered rocks. Sunlight filters through the dense canopy, casting dappled patterns on the vibrant undergrowth, where ferns and thick moss thrive in the damp, cool air. The stream, clear and sparkling, meanders through the woodland, its gentle murmur blending with the rustling leaves and distant bird calls. Towering trees, their trunks wrapped in a tapestry of green and brown, stand as silent guar…

A chocolatier is opening up on Liberty, where Kilwin’s used to be.
And it looks like a Middle Eastern restaurant is opening across the street, formerly TAQ.
So an ice cream parlor becomes a sweet shop, and a taco joint a shawarma shop. Even trades.

Street-level photo of a terracotta-red brick storefront with a large brown sign reading “QUIX CHOCOLATE,” a small crown emblem between the two words. A tree with bright yellow autumn leaves stands at the left, partly covering the sign, and a black globe street lamp stands at center. Two large display windows hold dark brown posters with the word “QUIX” in an elegant serif typeface, “Belgian Chocolates” beneath it, and the text “Coming soon! Made in Michigan,” plus “Now hiring” with a website an…
Photo of the street-level facade of a building with gray-painted brick and a stone base. A white banner above the entrance reads “Alloush Grill” in black cursive script. Below it, black-framed windows and a glass door are covered on the inside with brown kraft paper, hiding the interior, a sign that the space is being prepared for opening. Small gold lettering on the door glass reads “106 E Liberty St, Ste 120.” In front, a blue stepladder leans against the stone base. On the sidewalk sit two g…
