Husband and I are getting organised to go for a walk. Husband has promised coffee as an incentive. It's rather bracing out there. Beanie and gloves weather.

We had a couple of homemade pancakes each, cooked apple with cinnamon, and all drizzled with real Canadian maple syrup, as a treat when we got home from our walk.
Husband sometimes makes a big batch of pancakes and then freezes the extra ones in individual servings. Very handy. And very yum!

A clear sunny Winter solstice day, so why not Chicken katsu udon soup with roasted rice tea for lunch at Tokyo Canteen in Kingston?
The soup had citrus-pickled vegetables in it (daikon, carrot, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts) - which was a pleasant surprise (I just expected dashi or miso or something).
