This is one of three #books I acquired yesterday. The other two are still in the car, I'm in my nightie and it's raining, so they're staying put for now 😄
The Constant Gardener by le Carré, The Golden Hours by Louisa Young and Anna of the Five Towns by Arnold Bennett.
I'm particularly looking fwd to TGH, the next in The Cazalet Chronicles, written by EJH's niece. It…

A book bought from the tombola stall at a Heritage Open Day event at Hartlebury Castle. I didn't want to take my chance with a tombola ticket so I offered £1 to buy it instead of 50p to gamble and they wisely accepted 😄 The Constant Gardener by le Carré. Beautiful pale blue sky-evoking paperback cover with three randomly placed bees in flight. Author and title in gold capitals, short blurb in smaller black letters.

I went to return two library books this morning and collect one, and the library was having a sale. Why do they do this??!
For the grand total of £4.50 I bought:
Jeeves and the Leap of Faith, Ben Schott
The Sleeping Beauty, Elizabeth Taylor
The Field of Blood, Paul Doherty
A Foolish Virgin, Ida Simons
The Night Manager, John le Carré
Agent Running in the Field, JlC
A Country Christmas, Miss Read
A Few Green Leaves, Barbara Pym
and I borrow…

A colourful stack of books on top of a pine bookcase. There are seven paperbooks on top of a single hardback. They will be put away according to the law that unread books lie on their sides, read books stand up. The walll behind is mangolia - nice paint job, wonder who did that? - and to the left is the edge of a window frame and the edge of a leafy plant. Bottom right you can see the top of the novelty toadstool cat bed that both cats have studiously ignored for two weeks.
Image of our main bookcase demonstrating that unread books lie down and read ones stand. It's a large, wide pine bookcase underneath a window with lots of plants on top of it and a large poinsettia, named Petunia, in the middle. To the left is one of my ALDI cream fake linen knitting storage cubes, and to the right that bloody toadstool cat bed they won't use. It's even got a dangly leaf bit and they go nuts for a dangler.
