Top-down view of the rear cassette of a bike. The cassette and chain are rusty (storing the bike outside, whee!), but there's also something like almost looks like a spoke wrapped AROUND the cassette, nestled in between and over sprockets in places

View of the same cassette, this time from the side. The random metal wire thing can be seen going over top of the biggest sprocket, then wrapping around the hub.

That same wire, pulled off the cassette and lying on a wood floor. It looks like a wire hanger, 12-18" long, and pretty mangled and rusty. There's also the nose and face of a black cat inspecting the wire (my helper feline).
