I've finished reading Quentin #Tarantino 's "#Cinema Speculation" (yes, he writes books too), and I have to admit it's been a fun read.
A little vulgar for my taste, but definitely an interesting look at the 1970s cinema, made even better by being put alongside personal stories of his childhood. It's a bit of a spoiler for the movies involved, but also gives you some context that may make (re)watching them a different experience.
Added a few movies into my watchlist while reading it, and will probably track down more.

Watched the movie Mickey 17 last night. I know it was not commercially successful, but I liked it. Good weird sci-fi movie with interesting characters. #movies #cinema

Godard said, "All you need to make a movie is a girl and a gun". 3 guys take this quote way too literally and try to make a movie with just a girl and a gun.

A repeated trap in #cinema is where the director sets out to make a film to expose a villain, but the public embraces them as the hero they had been waiting for. Case in point: Wolf of Wall Street, but even James Bond too, not the films but the books, we were supposed to despise him.
And here today, we have world leaders turning to another fictional role-model:

A #cinema #documentary #anthropology question:
Years ago I saw a low-budget doc about anthropologists visiting Zanskar #Tibet before the first Chinese road arrived. They interviewed the king, a doctor, and a kind elder who only wanted to talk gossip and kept refilling their barley beers.
Today all I can find by Search are glowing big-budget praises of China in Tibet.
Does anyone else recall that earlier doc?
