I read William Golding’s The Spire, a hardcover borrowed from the grad library’s third floor stacks. It’s a Serious Book by a Serious Author. When I read it 25 years ago, I followed the story but got many of the characters confused, missed most of the carnal and spiritual undertones, and was blind to grand metaphors woven across chapters where people and things reverse roles and act like things and people. Die einzige Verfilmung einer Vorlage von Michael Moorcock - „The Final Programme“(1973) gibt es kostenlos auf Joyn. Allerdings heißt er da "Verrückt und Gefährlich". Ich habe ein wenig Angst, aber die praktische Halterung für Ginflaschen in Jerry Cornelius' Auto beeindruckt mich bereits.

A couple of years after I graduated from college, the school significantly curtailed the "Greek life" arrangements. The fraternities and sororities were allowed to remain active as societies but were no longer permitted to live in the houses they had been occupying. I wonder if it made a difference in terms of sexual assaults and/or drug/alcohol offenses...
