"Floppy disk" (with a "k")
A single thin and flexible plastic disk coated with a magnetic medium, inside a plastic shell. Yes, all variants are floppy disks, including 3.5", 5.25", 8" and some rarer variants. Removable.
"Hard disk" (with a "k")
One or more hard platters [usually made from metal or glass], coated with a magnetic medium, inside a rigid, air-tight shell. Usually not removable.
"Optical disc" (with a "c")
A single rigid plastic multi-layered disc with one or more metal layers that contain data. Most don't have a shell, though some variants do. Removable.
The disk/disc distinction is by convention.

60 years ago tonight, the velvet underground at summit high school in new jersey, opening for the myddle class, both acts' 1st proper shows. sometimes called the VU's debut, rob norris’s classic scene report, “i was a velveteen” (from kicks #1) mentions they’d just been fired from cafe wha?, so maybe there was one earlier, too? some great local coverage, too!

A network among chess players (nodes) giving the chess match outcomes (edges), for game-by-game results among the world’s top chess players. The direction of edge (i,j) denotes white player (i) and black player (j). Each edge is timestamped (approximate). Edge sign is 1 for a win by white, 0 for draw, and -1 for a win by black.
