I managed to get out and I can confirm snow and ice on forest roads.
But it was fine. It all was a bit more technically challenging than usual.
Maybe I've got to clean my bike tomorrow.

#cycling to work is great for science if it can be done without stress 🚲. I must have written some good chunks of my papers in my head while cycling to work. I come up with and flesh out the ideas while cycling, then just need to write them down when arriving - perfect! (It helps that my research is *about* cycling 😬)

Excellent Scrappy Hour Group Ride today. Weather was nice and warm, fall colors were awesome. Small group from Tosa (just four this time) but me, Michael, Nick, and James had a blast!

I met a guy on last weekend’s ride that said “That’s my HSA bike” and when asked what that is he said “My doctor said I’ve got pre-diabetes and needed to get more exercise so I was able to use HSA funds to get this bike” and damn that’s a heck of a hack.

Commentators on popular #cycling websites often write that wheels are the best value upgrades that can be made to a bike. They're wrong: tyres have more impact, and you can get the best tyres (Conti GP5000 for fast road, Schwalbe Marathon for bomb-proof commuting) for well under £100.
After tyres, I'd agree that wheels come next. Carbon wheels from Hunt really enhanced my road bike…

I started biking to work in August and it's now the end of November and I've done it 50 times in those 4 months.
That's 50 days I rode a bike instead of driving a car... about 650 miles by bike instead of car.

I helped the local alpine club with some filming today in the mountains. Followed by some trail marking.
Came home and did a nice bike ride.

Pogačar's (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) return to racing at the Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec on Friday was the scene of a rare miss, as the World Champion finished in 29th place – his worst one-day result in three years.
Julian Alaphilippe (Tudor Pro Cycling Team) claimed a brilliant solo victory, while Pogačar finished 26 seconds back in the chase group, his lowest placing in a one-day race since 2022.
