I switched from Windows to Linux for personal home use a few years ago. Here's a hot tip. After running OpenSUSE Tumbleweed for a while, I moved to OpenSUSE Leap and love it. Everything works just the same, but updates are significantly faster.

Article on media treatment of people with disabilities after the ADA was enacted in 1990.
A quote from the article:
"In the mind of the public and the media, there are 'legitimate' and 'worthy' disabilities, usually those visible to the naked eye, such as mobility impairments and blindness. At the other end of the spectrum, there are the 'undeserving disabled,' people who are thought to be to blame for their conditions."

Thank you, @… . It's been decades since I thought about DOS Shell.
Our first PC came with MS-DOS 5 and also Windows 3.1. So even then DOS Shell seemed quaint and antiquated. But in a fun way.

#A11y #Accessibility

Boardroom meme. Five people in business clothes sit at a rectangular table. The boss at the head of the table says angrily, "Must make website accessible." One employee smiles and suggests "Alternate accessible version." A second replies, "Buy an overlay." At the end, a smug looking guy in a polo shirt leans on the table with his head on his hand. He says "Fix our HTML." The boss looks at him angrily, and the guy smiles back smugly. In the final frame, the smug guy has been thrown out the windo…

In this episode of Double Tap, Mike Shebanek tells his story of the creation of VoiceOver and how it led to today when all major consumer operating systems have built-in screen readers.
Someone should make this into a movie.

The "going out of business" signs have gone up at our local Big Lots discount shop.
#BigLots #Retail #Ohio

An empty orange shopping cart with the words Big Lots sits in a parking lot in front of a shop. A sign above the wide sliding entrance doors reads "Big Lots Entrance." Between that sign and the sliding doors is a vinyl banner that reads "Closing" in huge letters. Two big signs are posted on the doors. One reads "store closing" and the other reads "Entire store up to 25% off." The pavement of the parking lot has numerous cracks.
