Reading @…'s book got me back in the lab doing experiments to measure the speed a signal travels through a 100-ft coaxial cable.
In this low-quality setup with a 47-ohm resistor on a breadboard, I got 203.2 x 10^6 m/s, or about 68% of the speed of light.
In a better setup using a proper 50-ohm BNC impedance adapter, I got 229.2 x 10^6 m/s, or ab…

Eine Flasche Jura Superstition Whisky und ein Glas mit Whisky auf einem hellen Holztisch. - Flasche: Klares Glas mit schwarzem Schraubverschluss, goldfarbene Flüssigkeit. Lesbare Texte: „Jura“, „Superstition“, „Established 1810“ und ein ankerähnliches Symbol. - Glas: Klares Glas mit facettiertem Design, enthält eine kleine Menge goldfarbenen Whiskys. - Hintergrund: Heller Holztisch. Die Stimmung wirkt ruhig und gemütlich – ein entspannter Whiskyabend.

Besuch im eindrücklichen Holocaustmuseum in Amsterdam.
Die teilweise erhaltene Brosche zeigt einen Teil von Rembrands Nachtwache. Um zu verstehen, um was es im Brief geht, muss man kein Niederländisch können.

Firmware updates for my 10-year-old Lenovo laptop are pretty rare, maybe one per year.
But for the last several months I've been getting firmware update notifications every couple of weeks, but only when I was on hotel wifi.
I thought this was suspicious and did not install the updates.
