Lightweight, powerful lithium-ion batteries are crucial for the transition to electric vehicles, and global demand for lithium is set to grow rapidly over the next 25 years. A new analysis from the University of California, Davis, published May 29 in Nature Sustainability, looks at how new mining operations and battery recycling could meet that demand. Recycling could play a big role in easing supply constraints, the researchers found.

Anyone with experience on here driving an #EV around the French Alps? Problems finding chargers? ABRP looks like it's a bit thin on the ground for fast chargers? Maybe ok for trickle charge? Does the switch to EVs make the threat of Middle East war greater if less people are impacted by the rise/volatility of gas prices?

Switzerland 🇨🇭 to ease #EV charging in apartment buildings: The Ständerat has voted in favour of the 'Unverbietbarkeit' of installing home EV charging points, which means that owner's associations cannot prohibit them.
The same applies to rental properties. This is a major step that will help more Swiss to switch.
The Bundesrat must now amend law(s) and regulations.

We've seen some lovely cars out and about lately. The E-type was at the supermarket today, the other two parked up at Shobdon airfield recently. There were other classic cars there too but these really stood out to me. I would cheerfully zoom off in any of these despite being an #EV bore 😄 We used to have an MGF and for years my mum had MGs. These days we drive an electric MG which is ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.

In 2021, Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit (TCAT) in Ithaca received a grant to procure seven all-electric buses and began a pilot program that didn't go as they'd hoped. In addition to issues with the manufacturers, the buses struggled in Ithaca's hilly terrain and were unreliable, with reduced range, in cold weather.
