Hat jemand Erfahrung mit Domains bzw. E-Mail Adressen im deutschsprachigen Raum, die Umlaute enthalten? Gibt da heute noch Probleme (außer in Ländern ohne Umlauten auf der Tastatur)?

RE LB: “Double Opt-In” isn’t really double. It’s 2-factor. Or mutual handshake, if you prefer. You ask to subscribe an address, and the sender emails you a request to confirm that before they send anything else.
There ARE other ways to handle subscriptions ethically, but they ALL include a mechanism confirmingin a reliable way that the user knows what they are asking for and is in control of the subscribed address.

I have set up my Thunderbird to use plain text and "interleaved, quote under" style, which is also the recommendation of the Linux Kernel mailing list. By default, it doesn't quote at all. I'm sick of throwing huge chunks of HTML back and forth where any long conversation grows into a formatting mess.

I never ceases to amaze me that mail systems do this shit. I know it was a thing with Sendmail but most of us have moved on or at least fixed the stupid mailer flags.

I understand it's fashionable to disable password login and instead force people to retrieve one-time passwords from their mailbox. This works better if you first verify that you can actually deliver #email to your users. (Totally random thought definitely not inspired by real events.)

The #email address is one of the most important services you have: It is not only used for communication, but as part of the login credential for nearly all other services it also serves as your digital identity and backup for most of your accounts (e.g. when you need to reset your password, etc.). That makes it your most important hub for all digital services, and becomes a detailed profile of…

Starting to believe that “moving fast” in professional environments is actually just “delay this problem for someone else to deal with in the future”.
Context: I’ve been helping oversee an email service provider (ESP) migration for an enterprise org (1,000 people).
Every other day we find unexpected issues that were caused by someone trying to save time and move quickly in the past. And we have to spend the time those people supposedly saved in the past by fixing their issues now, in their future.
No time was actually saved, folks. It was an illusion.
