Ich möchte nicht mehr Google Maps nutzen, um lokal zum Beispiel nach Restaurants etc zu suchen.
Was gibt's da für europäische, vielleicht sogar offene und föderierte Alternativen, Fedi?

The fediverse is often full of drama with admins falling out with each other and defederations, and threats and tears.
Now, with the public spat between the Twitter admin and the TruthSocial admin, the rest of the world gets to enjoy a similar spectacle!
They can't defederate of course, because Twitter never became open enough and TruthSocial was already defederated by everyone as soon as it existed.
Only on Fedi can you get the full experience of a public spat and defederation, because only on Fedi can the admins really at-mention and and directly reply and take the final dramatic action of a flouce-defederation.
Trump fans who are Twitter users can't port their followers over to TruthSocial, and Turther Musk fans can't just migrate their account to Twitter.
They're stuck.
So you see Fedi really is the best when it comes to massive public spats between admins and this current admin-drama is only getting more attention because it's between two of the worst people in the world.

Just went to look at a Mastodon account I interacted with a little while back. Their follow requests require approval (which is fair enough) and the bio states
Got a blank or nonsensical avatar, no visible activity, no pointers to your identity? I'll ignore your follow request.
Well I guess that's me out. I have a good reason for wanting to be pseudonymous, as do many others here I imagine.
Of course it's every user's right to set whatever conditions they want on who follows them, but a blanket refusal on anyone not featuring a "real name" and a human-appearing avatar feels quite over-sensitive to me.

From what I’ve seen of #FediCon (which, believe it or not, is a convention for the FEDIVERSE), there seems to be a whole lot of “check out this non-Fediverse thing that is in fact built on Bluesky” and “here are some problems with the Fediverse that no one actually faces, how do we fix them, let’s make it centralized” and not much actual talk about ongoing Fedi projects.

Everyone please don't scare away new people on #fedi . They don't have to use #archlinux to post here #nixos is also supported.

It is awesome that #WordPress posts can syndicate to the #Fediverse but the syndication can add some really long posts to the Fedi timeline, like 21-pages-if-you-print long. Not to mention formatting issues.
Ain't nobody reading that on Fedi. 🙂‍
