#FungiFriday So excited to finally see a mushroom in the suburbs!
#FungiFriday So excited to finally see a mushroom in the suburbs!
Curious if these are some kind of tiny nest fungus or one of the jelly varieties. I'm always in awe of how many tiny powerhouses a forest contains. Collectively, this colony of mushrooms is capable of digesting a giant log. (Still working through the batch of photos I took up north this summer.) #fungifriday
Capping off this week of #fungifriday (get it? capping? mushrooms?) these velvety question marks. I have no idea what they are. They appeared practically overnight in this peculiar pattern. The caps are soft to the touch, despite the pattern.
The crackle texture on these Amanitas caps is leftover from the veil on the mushroom. It looks crunchy but if you touch the cap the texture is slimy. This week, every day is #fungifriday.
Forgot to do yesterday's post for everyday is #fungifriday #bloomscrolling. I always have to remind myself a mushroom is just the fruit of the fungi world - the actual living organism in the mycelium you can see inside this branch. This wonderful, invisible, enigmatic network that …
And in today's entry of every day is #fungifriday - my first sighting of dead's man's fingers.
Not gonna lie, things have been feeling pretty bleak lately. I did find a spot of joy this weekend when I took a foraging class. I took a bunch of photos so this week . . . every day is #fungifriday #bloomscrolling Here is a ghost flower - an oddity in the plant world because it doesn…
Sometimes you find a mushroom that matches your socks. This large violet cort (prolly?) and the nearby tiny one were both nommed on by something. Both surrounded by moss and ferns. In the "brightest red mushroom" post I think I misidentified the moss as tiny ferns because the scale was hard to judge. Don't rely on my ids, just enjoy the pretty pictures and correct me if I get it wrong. :) #fungifriday
Ugly mushroom for an ugly week in US politics. We can learn from fungi and mushrooms; they recycle and renew. Rot and destruction create opportunities, for better or worse. We can rebuild what was lost better than it was before. Or we can let the people that destroyed the system build a worse one in its place. It's our choice. #fungifriday
It's still #fungifriday in some timezones . . . here's a cluster of scaly inky cap? pale brittle stem? I don't trust my ID skills but I enjoy the intellectual exercise
The brightest red mushroom I have ever found. Also tiny ferns. The tiniest, cutest ferns. #fungifriday #nofilter
