Ein dreiviertel Jahr lang handelte die Office-Managerin mit der Gebäudeverwaltungsabteilung (GVA) die Befestigung eines großen Instituts-Glasschildes an einer Wand aus. Drei Tage nach erfolgreicher Befestigung des Schildes (hurrah!) erschien die Leiterin der GVA mit einem Mitarbeiter und nahm das Schild wieder ab. Es sei ungenehmigt, veraltet und überhaupt. Die Löcher in der Rigipswand sind uns ein Mahnmal.

First, they need to decouple the route from the existing network, or risk it daily becoming a *glacially slow* high-speed train. Then, set rolling stock design parameters that don’t, say, require paring back multiple existing station platforms. And then, somehow manage not to fuck up the rolling stock tender process.
We’ve been dancing this dance for decades. I can guess what’s on that shovel.

Historic Glacial Confluence
This is the site of confluence of the former glaciers Vernagtferner and Hintereisferner, two of the most (and longest) studied glaciers in the world. It is the site (at ~2200m) where several times over the past thousand years the ice of the Vernagtferner would pile up to form a massive dam, 150-200m tall, which caused a semi-permanent ice lake to form in the Rofen/Hintereis valley above (the one visible from ~7 seconds). Statusbewusste Mitarbeiter:innen, die simple administrative Entscheidungen unbedingt persönlich von der Direktorin erklärt wollen haben und die exakt gleichlautende Erklärung von der Office Managerin nicht akzeptieren, genau mein Sinn von sinnvollem Zeitvertreib.
