This is a portrait of a young vampire, not yet accustomed to her appearance or new dietary restrictions. This painting captures her posing for a friend, wearing the wedding dress for a celebration that never happened, and holding the bridal bouquet she never got to throw. Her face is illuminated by a bright light, showing the steak of blood she forgot to clean up by her mouth and bearing witness to the uncertainty she feels in her new beauty.
Reference images used were a mixture of public domain photographs sourced from Pexels and a pose photo I took of myself.

I adore vampires, so this is hopefully the first #vampire #painting of many to come. 🧛‍♀️
This is my second ever #gouache piece! I wanted to challenge myself to create something original, rather than doing a study from a royalty-free reference like I did before.
I used 6 references for different elements of the painting, the pose and dress were mostly from a photo I took of myself specifically for this piece.
I also decided to call her Brenda. I don’t know why, it doesn’t really matter. But that’s her name.
