The wee one went back to preschool today after a week off.
I love him to bits, but my goodness, just having a few uninterrupted hours in which to work is amazing!
He was all clear to go back yesterday but husband was not yet up to driving him then. (The round trip takes about an hour - husband has to do it twice a day!)

I finally got some work done today. Feeling so much better than yesterday. Not quite 100% but getting there.

I'm back (sort of-ish). The wee one's illness on Friday spread to the rest of the household. He went through it relatively unscathed* but we older folks were sooo sick. Still struggling a bit with exhaustion but I'm back, baby!
We're still keeping him home for a couple more days just in case.

The ancient HP laptop now running Linux has become the basis for the wee one's entertainment. I play toddler appropriate videos on Firefox for him and he thinks it's wonderful. This is a crappy old lappy that was running windows 10 (couldn't upgrade to w11) but now has a new life bringing enjoyment to a small person. And because it's an old refurb I'm not too precious about him banging the keyboard occasionally.

We're off for a cheap early dinner (5:30pm reservation) at the local club tonight with the wee one. Driving rather than walking as is our usual wont. Too cold, too wet, and too far for the wee one*.
*I'm a bit knackered too, to be honest.

My knee is very painful tonight - that's what happens when an arthritic grandmother ends up carrying a recalcitrant 3yo most of the way home from the park.

We have the wee one again - not exactly sure for how long this time. Unexpected dramas. Again. Only found out this afternoon and he was delivered from kindy a couple of hours later. We are the CYF's choice when things go wrong with his mother. Son will be here to help but the baby is officially in our care, not his.

Husband and I have just been informed - by email - that we will both have to apply for WWVP cards in order to be carers for the wee one. I had one for more than a decade but let it lapse after peak Covid because I didn't think I'd need it any more. Husband has never had one. That is a task for tomorrow. We've been looking after the wee one at the request of CYF for many weeks without it being an issue. 🤷‍♀️
