Took my son to lunch today for his birthday. Just the two of us. It's kind of a fraught situation considering the circumstances. We are caring for the wee one in our home while he and his ex-partner are currently only allowed supervised contact visits.

I've been out on a spending spree today. With the hot weather here (although not tomorrow in Canberra), I've been buying up big in Kmart. Summer clothes for the wee one. 5 x shorts, 5 x T-shirts, 10 pairs of socks, 3 pairs of shoes, and 2 hats. He's grown so much that he needs bigger (and more weather appropriate) clothing. Should see him through for a bit.

It's Sunday. I'm still in bed. The rule is I can sleep in 'til 9am on Sundays. I don't actually do that, but I do hide in my bed reading until then. Quiet bliss.

I'm a bit groggy this morning. The wee one had a rough night. He woke with a nightmare (I think) around 12:40am but he also had a temp. He was very loving and told me several times that he was happy I was there in his room with him. He's still asleep but I think I was lucky to get two hours.

Grandparenting win!
The wee one spent the whole night in his new big boy bed. He didn't come into mine for cuddles until 6:30 this morning.
Both husband and grandson are now in the loungeroom watching

while I'm quietly snuggled up in bed with a cup of tea.

The wee one now has his own space (room) set up just for him. All that furniture assembly has worn us out.

Husband and the wee one have colds - it's been a few days for both of them now.
The 3 year old is far more sanguine about it than the 64 year old.

We're up to the stage in the Kinship Carers assessments where we have to ask 4 of our friends to give us references (2 each) when CYF calls them. That's my task for this afternoon.
It's a difficult choice because:
1. No one I know likes to answer unknown numbers.
2. My closest friends are also friends with husband but he has no others.
3. I hate asking.
