Husband and the wee one have colds - it's been a few days for both of them now.
The 3 year old is far more sanguine about it than the 64 year old.

The wee one went back to preschool today after a week off.
I love him to bits, but my goodness, just having a few uninterrupted hours in which to work is amazing!
He was all clear to go back yesterday but husband was not yet up to driving him then. (The round trip takes about an hour - husband has to do it twice a day!)

I'm back (sort of-ish). The wee one's illness on Friday spread to the rest of the household. He went through it relatively unscathed* but we older folks were sooo sick. Still struggling a bit with exhaustion but I'm back, baby!
We're still keeping him home for a couple more days just in case.

Grandparenting win!
The wee one spent the whole night in his new big boy bed. He didn't come into mine for cuddles until 6:30 this morning.
Both husband and grandson are now in the loungeroom watching

I'm a bit groggy this morning. The wee one had a rough night. He woke with a nightmare (I think) around 12:40am but he also had a temp. He was very loving and told me several times that he was happy I was there in his room with him. He's still asleep but I think I was lucky to get two hours.

We're off for a cheap early dinner (5:30pm reservation) at the local club tonight with the wee one. Driving rather than walking as is our usual wont. Too cold, too wet, and too far for the wee one*.
*I'm a bit knackered too, to be honest.

My knee is very painful tonight - that's what happens when an arthritic grandmother ends up carrying a recalcitrant 3yo most of the way home from the park.

The wee one now has his own space (room) set up just for him. All that furniture assembly has worn us out.

Husband and I have just been informed - by email - that we will both have to apply for WWVP cards in order to be carers for the wee one. I had one for more than a decade but let it lapse after peak Covid because I didn't think I'd need it any more. Husband has never had one. That is a task for tomorrow. We've been looking after the wee one at the request of CYF for many weeks without it being an issue. 🤷‍♀️

We're up to the stage in the Kinship Carers assessments where we have to ask 4 of our friends to give us references (2 each) when CYF calls them. That's my task for this afternoon.
It's a difficult choice because:
1. No one I know likes to answer unknown numbers.
2. My closest friends are also friends with husband but he has no others.
3. I hate asking.
