H5N1 flu research
Suspected H5N1 human-to-human transmission already reported in 2005 - an 11-year-old thought to have infected her mother & aunt.
"... the mother lived in a distant city, where she had no exposure to poultry, and traveled to the affected province only to care for her daughter [in hospital]. She had prolonged, direct, unprotected exposure to her critically ill daughter and had not had known exposure to poultry or poultry products."

I don’t mean to minimize the potential risk of #H5N1, and I hope it doesn’t become a serious problem. But it bugs me that some of the same people who spent the last 4 years saying #COVID (which has killed millions with no end in sight) is “just a flu” now see H5N1 (which infected one person) and are all …

informative article about H5N1 at US dairy farms
From people in the middle of it:
"We have a very clear picture that it's in the udder & is being shed in milk. But where else do we need to be concerned?"
“I spent one weekend picking up dead birds & the next weekend picking up dead cats."
"The dairy industry needs to be more proactive for the sake of the poultry industry ... a dime-sized piece of manure with H5N1 can infect up to 1 million chickens or turkeys."

I am not going deep into the conversation on #H5N1 because my educationa/lprofessional background gives me enough knowledge in the field that I can only offer uncertain optimism, while the people most freaked out by this HAVE EVERY RIGHT to their concern because “knowledgeable experts” so badly handled #Covid wi…

H5N1 in the US
"Andrew Bowman, a veterinary epidemiologist at Ohio State University, had a hunch.
"... he and a graduate student went on a road trip: They collected 150 commercial milk products from around the Midwest, representing dairy processing plants in 10 different states, including some where herds have tested positive for H5N1. Genetic testing found viral RNA in 58 samples"
I like how they didn't just wait for official news :-) Go scientists!

Vertlartnic on "bird flu"
Another classic...
"Why Now Is The Right Time To Pretend That Bird Flu Won't Be A Problem If It's The Next Pandemic"
I've been reading some stuff about the cows in the States with H5N1, and I don't like the sound of it. Officially they now think it's going cow to cow, not just bird to individual cow. And officially it isn't airborne, but I'm not going to count on that for sure just yet. Plus some vibes of "we must protect the dairy industry".
