As an historian of the fur trade in Canada, I think it's sort of perfect that the Thomson and especially the Weston families get the charter. Nobody performed the proud Canadian tradition of corporate monopoly over the basic necessities of life and knowledge of the outside world better or longer than the HBC.

Today I tried to get our new Hetzner mailbox to work with gitlab issues, but failed. I blame Hetzner, because a) they don't seem to support subaddressing (foo 123@example.com) and b) they don't set the proper mail header (Envelope-To and Delivered-To) when doing a mail forward. Both of which work for example with mailbox.org, and both are needed to allow issue creation via email in gitlab (what they call Service Desk). Grrr...

Was originally going to upgrade the VM server CPU today since the new heatsink came in, but changed my mind: I don't have an extra LGA 4189 plastic mounting clip so I'd need to remove the old CPU from the heatsink, clean it, and apply new thermal compound etc.
Better to wait until tomorrow when the motherboard I ordered for the microscope bench box comes in. Then I can use its bracket with the new heatsink and CPU, and pull the existing VM server processor/heatsink assembly and…

in der heutigen ausgabe unserer lokalzeitung beschwert sich eine dame per leserbrief, dass es ein unding sei, dass man von der pflicht zum führerscheinumtausch nur "aus den medien" erfährt und sie nicht persönlich angeschrieben wurde. überlege seit der lektüre, für was man die leut dann noch alles anschreiben müsste. und ab wann sie dann davon genervt wären. 🤔🙄
