Tim Miller's take from The Bulwark.
If he's right, I would surmise one thing: When the folks receiving subsidies for Healthcare receive the resulting massive increase - if it's made clear to them what happened - they'll vote their pocketbook.

In the past, I've tried registering for a specialist doctor appointment over the Internet a few times. The results were roughly:
• e-registration available for gynecologist only
• license expired
• e-registration available only for new patients (I needed a followup visit)
• the only available time is 6 AM on Saturday — not that I'd mind, but I wasn't sure it was a real appointment

Anyone working in #hospice care in the UK, this might be of interest: pilot courses for teams of 6 to 12 people, on how to use "Clean Language" in conversations about end-of-life care.
1 day in-person, or 2 x half a day if online. CPD certificate.
"Clean Language" is about how you can talk with people and listen to people without accidentally bringing in your own baggage when you didn't mean to.
This skill can help you reach clearer/deeper understanding of other people's worlds. And it can mean you're less likely to set off unnecessary disagreements, so that conversations go more smoothly.
Pilot aimed at South West, Yorkshire & North East. I asked Judy why those areas in particular, and she said those are areas where they're building up "clusters of expertise", but actually it could be any UK end-of-life group.
(I slightly know Judy from having been to a little community event of hers about Clean Language in healthcare. And we have colleagues in common.)

A snippet I wrote elsewhere earlier today, thinking in particular about dentists:
What I'm acutely aware of at the moment is the chasm between "willing to accommodate what you explicitly ask for" and "understands the parameters of the risk".
If they don't make the effort to grasp the logic of it themself, if they're just humouring you to be nice or doing what someone once told them to do, then there's only one brain in the game (yours). You have to be on alert the whole time for the mistakes that their ignorance lets them make, and you can't trust in anything they do when you're not looking.
I do appreciate it when people are like "what do you need" - obviously that's better than "you weirdo" - but what I'm really looking for is someone who _already knows_ how this works, and I don't have to watch them like a hawk for where their ignorance is going to put me at risk.

Poked vaccine 💉 💉 arm is a little tender today but not too bad. Lying on it last night wasn’t great.
I am still getting used to the fact we have access to all our health records online.
It’s really cool to be able to see everything from yesterday’s jabs to an X-ray report (though no actual image), to general doc visits and prescriptions going all the way back to 2003. Some Dr notes are visible in reports, but not much.
Oct 21 is the earliest I’ve got a flu or COVID shot since 2022 when I got COVID jabbed on Oct 15 and Flu on the 24th.
The first entries are actually HepB and Tetanus shots I got before backpacking around Europe in summer 2003.
Good times!

Update: the insurance person figured out that it was the family deductible that was still $1,000 which is why insurance didn’t take more off.
But she was lovely and found me a way to get a co-pay card for Paxlovid through the manufacturer - I used it and it made the medication FREE. From $1,000 to $0.
