JFC how do people deal with modern Android, especially on tablets?
Just got a used Lenovo Tablet to use as a wall tablet for #HomeAssistant. During initial setup, the Google setup was like "Hey, would you like to download these random apps to get you started?". I deselected them all.
Then I got forced into a Lenovo setup which forced me to go through FOUR PAGES of r…
#HomeAssistant got me hooked up on logging everything. I've got four Wi-Fi thermometers, and I'm debugging heat pump efficiency.
I'm on #proton now instead of Gmail, preparing to move from Spotify to #deezer and have already moved from google to #homeassistant.
Hah score! Managed to push data from #HomeAssistant to #MQTT using the MQTT Publish action in HA, then https://
Public service announcement for #HomeAssistant. I created @… to replace the dead @… group.
Please boost so the group can get some traction.
I've got the Glow Display (IHD/CAD) which works as an MQTT proxy for UK #SmartMeter readings. I can read them locally in #HomeAssistant. I've got near-realtime usage data from the the authoritative source that my energy provider uses for billing. Very cool!
You can see September came in hard and now we are paying for energy again. Hopefully we can hold on longer before the central heating starts taking up it's chunk of cost. #homeassistant #graphs
Is there a way to check programmatically, if a #HomeAssistant integration is in an error state?
I have the situation where an integration fails if the container is restarted or docker gets an update but not always. A notification that this integration is down would be very helpful.
Question for people who have more than one #HomeAssistant Voice PE: These things seem to have scary good microphones (mine will often hear me from two rooms over). That makes me a bit hesitant to add a second one to the mix.
Do they have some sort of de-conflicting in case more than one device can hear the wake word, the way iOS only activates one device when you have multiple devi…
Right, so I accidentally split this thread in two, so it will continue here with further updates on it overall but specifically on the next #HomeAssistant #MQTT #Prometheus
Does anyone know of any good smart light switches for home assistant? Want to still have a quite typical click mechanism for if the network goes down but be able to toggle remotely etc

#Zigbee #HomeAutomation without :homeassistant: #HomeAssistant, instead all defined in :nixos: #nix /
I've got Eve smart plugs which happen to report grid voltage they see. I've noticed this is precise enough to observe wire resistance, and see how far each plug is from the breaker box!

My ZigBee mesh is now mesh due to IKEA bu^Wsmartplugs >> random Tuya from Ali. They do know how to route!
Random Ali sensors are more or less OK. #zigbee #homeassistant
Har fått igång #homeassistant och länkat den med #musicassistant . Men jag kan inte söka musik från HA appen utan behöver styra musiken från MA via en webbläsare. Kör i #docker och …

In case you didn't noticed it, there is a temperature sensor in the first photo of the previous post. With the information from that one, and the one outside, I can decide based on temperature if I want any queue workers to pause untill things cooldown or not. So preparing the get those out of #HomeAssistant into
#HomeAssistant is pretty good.
It has some quirks, but it's not as much hassle as I feared. I had to edit 4 lines of YAML, but everything else I wanted was in the GUI.
Finally, switch to the #Matter standard paid off. I can keep devices shared with HomeKit, while having way bet…
Released v0.23.0 of the ha-mqtt-discoverable and ha-mqtt-discoverable-cli modules.
Details at #homeassistant
Just switched from an old and clunky CC2531 to a Sonoff Zigbee Stick for my #Zigbee2mqtt #HomeAssistant setup, because I required more recent Zigbee features that weren't available on the old stick (pairing codes).
Had to re-pair all my Zigbee devices, but was surprisingly pai…

I know I could download an older #HAOS disk image, back up, make a new VM, and restore but frankly that's more hassle than I want to deal with.
It would also be useful in the case where someone hasn't updated in many months and may need to move forward in steps to deal with versions that had breaking changes.
Released v0.22.0 of the ha-mqtt-discoverable #python module.
New features: Lock devices
Thanks again to Steffan for all his work on the module.

Is there a way in the UI for me to update #HAOS, but not to the most current version?
Basically most months I want to update to the last version of _last_ month, not the current bleeding edge of _this_ month.
I feel like this can't be that unusual a desire and I'm probably not looking in the right part of the UI.

FYI for those of you interested in #iot - there is now an IOT tagpush bot in addition to @…
Tagpush bots are less hassle than the old @a.gup.pe bots because instead of having to mention the bot to get your post boosted, all you have to do is follow the bot and any messages you post with its tag will be boosted. You'll see what the bot boosts and not have to do anything special to have it boost other than add the hashtags you'd be adding anyway.
The @… bot boosts anything its followers post with #iot or #InternetOfThings
The @… bot does the same thing for the #homeassistant tag.
