a galvanized metal trough on a sidewalk that some people are calling “planters.” There are no plants in it and it’s next to a tree/garden basin cut out of the sidewalk pavers that’s just dirt.

One of the most obnoxious #hostileHorticulture planter barricades in SF is next to a mural entitled "Humanity Is the Key."
I didn't realize until today that the mural, by Palestinian-American artist Chris Gazaleh, is about occupation and the West Bank border wall. Really deepens the irony.

Galvanized metal troughs, some with plants in them, and fencing blocks most of the sidewalk on a street, next to a building with a mural of a figure reaching up into an orange tree.

Gardens Not Barricades
Community spaces are better than blocking public sidewalks.
