The housing crisis appears to have completely engulfed politics in Spain now! The main square in Madrid is an encampment in support of housing/tenants rights. There is talk of a General Strike.
The Government just lost a vote in parliament on two bills that would have provided some relief (according to government) though not as much as some parties wanted (particularly the rightwing Junts Catalan separatist party).
Junts voted against the decree, which along with the rightwing People’s Party and ultra-Right VOX, meaning it failed to pass.
Sanchez could pull the plug and call a snap election based on support for his housing proposals (which distracts from immigration and corruption charges)
I would really like to be able to vote in this election but currently my rights have been suspended as a foreign-domiciled citizen!
