Yesterday (Thursday) was "Narasimha Jayanthi", the birthday of Narasimha. The occasion is observed with pomp in Waisnavite locations across #India.
I of course attended the Narasimha Jayanthi festivities in #Udupi. Of the many people I encountered, two were rather rude and directed some anger at me, which I thought I didn't deserve. Still, I handled one of them right, which is by ignoring them; but I think I responded a wee bit in kind to the second. 😳
Needless to say, those two interactions left a bitter taste in me, but I later consoled myself that maybe it was just that Narasimha cast his shadow on some people that day, what with him having just been born. 😀

My sister took this picture of cashew apples (with nut still attached) a few days ago. They were grown on her farm.
Minor light issues but the intense red against dull gray looks good. Plus received on WhatsApp which loses quality.

Thursday was "yugaadi", #NewYear day in #Karnataka #India. The arrangement here is for "kani darshana", viewing auspicious things at day's start.

Couple of days ago, I sat in on an intro class of "yakshagaana", a #dance #music #art form popular on the west coast of South #India. This was at a #summer #camp in #Udupi.
The chalkboard shows a basic 7 beats rhythm ("thaala") and melody ("raaga").The text is written in #Kannada.
My first time #learning this material. Was fun.

Indian saree colors and patterns are so beautiful and elegant. 🦚 😍
Aside: Saree #1 was on the main idol of #Kolluru Mookambika; #2 was on #Udupi #Krishna. ☺️
