At 8:00 AM, at the Des Moines Airport, it’s already 80 F, and rising fast. Dew point 71 F, relative humidity 74%. Forecasted high of 90 F. Most of the southern half of Iowa, including the Des Moines metro, remains in a National Weather Service “extreme heat warning” until 10 pm tonight. “Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values over 100.”
