Couple of days ago, I sat in on an intro class of "yakshagaana", a #dance #music #art form popular on the west coast of South #India. This was at a #summer #camp in #Udupi.
The chalkboard shows a basic 7 beats rhythm ("thaala") and melody ("raaga").The text is written in #Kannada.
My first time #learning this material. Was fun.

New to me: Folk and ~classical #music by "Jogappas", a friendly #Kannada term for #trans people. The music starts slow; give it a ~minute. The start of the first video has English intro if you need it. 🏳️‍⚧️ 🌈
