8 minutes seems excessive #LFC
8 minutes seems excessive #LFC
Brighton really should be level. #LFC
Chiesa absolutely spoon feeding Salah late.
#LFC
Wirtz returns the favor to Ekitike. Class from both.
#LFC
#lfc
Guehi shows why we wanted him.
Absolute rip by Frimpong on his weaker foot (but don't tell him that!)
#LFC
If Gakpo could develop a left-footed shot, it would change everything.
#LFC
Fantastic save from Alisson. Bails out a sleeping weak side defense.
#LFC
Lovely touch from Ekitike to free Florian. Should have a brace, but we'll take it.
#LFC
I guess that was likely.
#lfc
This could be disastrous. Szoboszlai has been the glue holding everything together.
#LFC
Salah in for an injured Gomez. Wouldn’t it be a delicious trolling if Slot played him at RB?
#LFC
You thought he was tiring, but Ekitike does not tire of scoring. A brace and should have more.
#LFC
If that doesn't start the game with a jolt of adrenaline, I don't know what will. Wake up, defense!
#LFC
Dumbest goal we've conceded this year? ✅
Unnecessarily fancy and perhaps a bit of showboating.
#LFC
Fuck me, that's a goal.
#lfc
Szoboszlai said jokingly after Arsenal that he needed more shooting practice. There you have it.
Didn't even celebrate.
#LFC
Kerkez has been decent lately, but he fell asleep on that give and go and Van Dijk gave him a solid rebuke afterwards. 📣 ‼️
#LFC
As the commentators correctly point out, Konate sliding for a loose touch on a ball 40 yards from goal - while on a yellow card - is madness!
#LFC
Great start! Ekitike with a nice and tight run and does well on the bounce. Gomez another assist. Per 90 his goal involvement (sans goals! 😂) must be incredible this season.
#LFC
Craig Pawson really is one of the better referees. Despite calling a non-foul a foul by Gravenberch, he’s been otherwise quite good. Consistent and letting them play, with neither side benefiting. Difficult balance.
#LFC
My partisan eyes, watching live, thought that it was a dive, based on the way Cleary's legs suddenly stopped working. Replay shows Dom gets ball. Was there enough of a push? Live and on replay, I don't think so.
Not sure what VAR would have done because 🙃
#LFC
Not even a yellow for a raking boot down the torso?!? I take back what I said about Pawson. That’s a ridiculously favorable ruling for Brighton.
I can, at least, see an argument for VAR not recommending a red card, but I cannot fathom how that is just your common foul.
#LFC
It feels to me like that’s Mo’s last game. The way players were trying to feed him for the fairytale ending?
His vision is still elite, but his speed is gone (Dunk beat him in a dead sprint from that lovely Mac Allister ball into space) and his passing and shooting accuracy have diminished as well.
I will always love what he did for #LFC, his class (gracefully weighing his miscalculation la…
Jones and Gravenberch, playing not necessarily as double pivots, but certainly playing as a reserved tandem… that’s working. Both having a good game (Jones has been incredible all season!)
Wirtz looks like he’s really figured out the speed of the league. Ascendant, these last several games. I’ve been trying to figure out his movement. He’s everywhere, similar to Jones in the back.
#LFC
Great tackle from Konate.
#LFC
The fates absolutely haunt us at RB. 💔
#LFC
I'd like some kind of investigation if any bets for a red card for West Ham were laid.
#lfc
Call FOR Salah being grabbed and pulled. 👀 🎉
#LFC
Clear handball. Doesn't matter if "he's turning away"
#LFC
Smart play from Jones. Possession in stoppage time > outnumbered attack.
#LFC
Wirtz hits the woodwork. He's been phenomenal in finding gaps in the Sunderland defense.
#LFC
Missed the first 15 min of the second half to pickup a child. Came back to see the OG 🎉 and Endo going down 😢
#LFC
Adding 2 minutes to the 5 that Endo was down for a total of 7 minutes of stoppage time seems very charitable to the visiting side.
#LFC
Ekitike missing a grounded header back to the near post in an echo of the City header miss. Work to do on finishing those opportunities.
#LFC
It must be said that Gakpo has been showing more of his left foot in recent weeks. It's clearly not super comfortable for him, but he is visibly trying to expand his profile.
#LFC
The officiating has been... good? I'm not sure what to make of this.
Decent first half. Sunderland have been a bit lucky on a couple of occasions, both from Wirtz (post and header).
#LFC look better against low blocks, but it's clear that Endo is not best used as an upfield back. He's been excellent otherwise.
Konate has also been in a very physical battle all game. Kavana…
Great defending by Konate, the commentators tells us. Not entirely wrong, but he did allow the run across him. The block was critical and well done, but relying on good fortune is not a good strategy.
#LFC
Salah is tracking back to help, but I think a sub would be a better choice than to leave him on and keep a midfielder occupied with an area he isn't spectacular at. Chiesa sitting on the bench and would work his tail off to defend.
#LFC
In 1953 we fell out of the 1st Division for 8 seasons until Shankly created the structure to get out of the 2nd division and be the kind of club we know now.
#lfc
The case for John Brooks awarding this soft penalty for Everton is so much thinner than the one HE overlooked on VAR for Wirtz at Arsenal. If this is a penalty, then that absolutely was.
I think he’s still sore about Klopp defiantly celebrating a late goal in his face as the fourth official. The one that did Klopp’s hamstring. 😂
#LFC
It wouldn't be a proper #LFC match without me once yelling at my TV to "call the penalty, you cowards!" Graeme Le Saux suggesting "Wirtz's leg actually came into Trossard" had me apoplectic.
Trossard already being on a yellow does not excuse a body check with no touch on the ball.
Ah, but the touch was heavy? So was the touch on Konate's penalty vs Leeds. In …
I have to time-shift today's match, which might be a mercy!
Having seen the lineups, allow me to say up front that I wish Slot would have started Jones over Mac Allister.
#LFC
Szoboszlai is back to MOTM performances. I thought he was absolutely terrific. With Gravenberch as his backstop and Wirtz and Bradley floating around in triangular support, he was able to keep #LFC in possession and deny Arsenal a lot of possession.
Frimpong is so ridiculously fast and can certainly dribble, but the question is the final ball. It does make you want to see him on the right and Ngu…
Sunderland didn't have much going forward, but they were excellent in defensive organization and shot blocking.
I hate playing against a low-block, 5-man backline, but I would do the same. That #LFC continue to allow teams to go up early and then relax in that setup makes everything so difficult.
#LFC
It’s #LFC so we round up all VAR reviews. It’s not corrections of clear and obvious errors, but rather adjudication from afar.
Ridiculous.
Ekitike!!!! What a calm and collected finish.
#LFC
Ten minutes plus stoppage time for Konate to blow the lead.
#LFC
Gakpo does so many things right, but his mistakes are killing good chances.
#LFC
My kingdom for competent defending. Asking unseriously if Konate is match fixing.
#LFC
Unlucky on the deflection and unlucky on the crossbar just before. Good spell of minutes for #LFC here.
Brace from Ekitike! Hiuge energy to win back the ball and Bradley delivers a peach of a ball in.
#LFC
Gorgeous dummy by Mac Allister and the man who has carried this insipid squad all year finishes beautifully.
#LFC
Good cross in from Gakpo, but the better choice was to feed the completely undefended Kerkez underlap into the box.
#LFC
I don’t know what to say. We are terrible on set pieces. Just terrible.
Here is a place where I think it’s absolutely fair to lambast Slot.
#LFC
This is the year of the set piece. A big part of Arsenal winning close games is their ability to conjure a moment when other parts of the attack are misfiring. Long throws back in vogue as well.
#LFC are near the bottom of the league on both sides. Can’t defend them and can’t score them.
Watching back the tying goal is an agony. Zonal marking can absolutely work, but it hasn’t at all for LF…
Having finally seen the game, my thought experiment is: Are #LFC worse in or out of possession? In stoppage time, do you think "we can still do this" or "not in the face"?
Despite all the evidence to the contrary this season, I'm still somehow shocked by the mental lapse at the end.
Yes, late subs, but Gomez for Gakpo didn't make midfielders misread a giant space…
Simon Hooper is being gamed here. Complete lack of confidence he will be able to keep the spice out of this game.
Newcastle are effective when they are allowed to play physical football. LFC are decidedly not, being a bit soft overall.
#LFC
Having to time-shift the match today. 😤
I don’t anticipate Fulham playing a dour 5 man backline, but Craven Cottage is a tough environment. Should be less likely to be dull.
Ekitike scores a brace, #LFC finally collects on some xG karma. Feels like a 2-1 nail biter.
The other thing I would say is that Robbo and Ekitike being out really hurt the side. Watching Kerkez continually piledrive blind crosses to nobody is painful. Robbo's touch and accuracy would have been a massive difference.
#LFC
Chiesa is a deserved cult hero.
#LFC
So much quality, so little chemistry.
#LFC
Wirtz!!!!! So patient and against the grain. Beautiful.
#LFC
IFAB: "The referee will not stop play just because a player has lost a shoe"
#LFC
When Wirtz's luck changs in front of goal, watch out. So many keepers have been very fortunate to get a piece of the ball.
#LFC
Slot yelling "No, no, nooooooooo!" in fury at Stuart Attwell for that bananas decision... might have been louder than me also yelling at Stuart Attwell.
#LFC
It's always the defense. It's always terrible luck on deflections. It's always from a team getting completely inverted on xG, playing five in the back and having no opportunities.
Just :shitty:
#LFC
Bradley AND Frimpong! 👏
Will be time-shifting my watching and going radio-silent. Hoping for a strong performance.
#LFC
Ekitike or Sexytike? My god. What a run and finish!
#LFC
Ibou! Feel for him and happy/sad all at the same time. Must be so hard.
#LFC
Bananas decision by Simon Hooper. My good, he’s so atrociously incompetent.
#LFC
Risky from Gordon, even if the officials allow it because of impact location.
#LFC
Burn should be off for that.🟨🟨
Simon H👀per doesn’t see it that way.
#LFC
Nobody knows the handball rule anymore, least of all Simon Hooper. Two in a row ignored.
#LFC
Wirtz to Ekitike!!! Something we’re likely to be cheering for years!
1-1 in an 11v12 game so far.
#LFC
Four consecutive terrible decisions by Simon Hooper. Four!
The home crowd is giving him righteous condemnation.
#LFC
Very fortunate with the woodwork to once. Definitely could use some possession, if nothing else tha to relieve pressure.
#LFC
Watching emotionally and not analytically, but it seemed like a tactical shift to their shape out of possession around 25’ in put #LFC into a better shape to clog passing lanes and disrupt Newcastle. Particularly in the midfield. It could also be that Simon Hooper stopped calling ridiculous “fouls” and let the game play. 🤷♂️
Ekitike has obviously been brilliant. Their player ratings aren’t spec…
Wirtz!!!!! Unselfish from Salah, who hasn’t been great today, overall, but understood that Burn coming to double him meant he was abandoning Wirtz in space. 🧠
#LFC
Lucky to have that contested ball come to him, Gordon. Kerkez not close enough and Alisson could have been better.
Probably deserved on overall play, but damn.
#LFC
Have to time-shift the match until much later tonight. Might be a blessing.
I hope for our luck to turn, our players to return to form, and that we find firm footing to use as the foundation for the rest of the season.
#LFC
Robbo gets soundly beaten to the inside, which just can’t happen. Give them the touch line, but never allow them inside.
Alisson with a great save, but the lack of awareness by every LFC player leads to the goal.
When it rains, it pours. The team has some key injuries, but far more depth and quality than what we’re seeing.
#LFC
🇪🇬 👑
#LFC
Another Gakpo left footed shot, did you say?
#LFC
Van Dijk shoots like a defender or it'd have been 6.
#LFC
The inverse of the Salah to Szoboszlai free kick from the last game.
#LFC
I don't know that I've ever seen player ratings for an entire side be so low.
#LFC
Feels a bit like a feeding frenzy as Mac Allister gets a tap in for the brace.
#LFC
Fede! Confident finish on a Van Dijk 2v1. If it stands, that's three assists for VVD.
#LFC
Such a gorgeous ball in from Mo and perfectly timed run from Mac Allister, but he scuffs what would have been the hat trick.
#LFC
Simon Hooper. Such a buffoon.
#LFC
Man of the year, Szoboszlai.
#LFC
The Qarabag defense is shockingly disorganized, but they've managed to get a block on a couple of the open shots. Gakpo unlucky on a couple.
#LFC
Instead of blind crosses into the box, #LFC should instead feed bounce passes in Szoboszlai’s direction and let him blast the half-volley on frame.
Chiesa, Arne. Give us Chiesa. And Rio.
#LFC
The second touch from Ekitke... :chefkiss:
And you know he's 💯 scoring when facing a closing keeper freely.
Good find by Virgil to thump it out to him.
#LFC
How is this not immediately a penalty?!? Nor at all?
#LFC
Think that's two left footed shots from Gakpo tonight, which the second wasn't half bad. He clearly is trying to diversify the known commodity of always cutting in, reverse Arjen Robben style.
#LFC
Wirtz! 5 goals in 9 games say the commentators. Great combo with Ekitike through traffic. Kept the defender in his pocket with a choice to foul him or release, neither a good option.
Clinical finish.
#LFC
