I'll tell you, I love my System76 #Linux laptop, but the ancient MacBook Air I just wiped and installed Linux on has way better speakers, better battery life and is much lighter. The old MBA CPU is a dog of course... Something to consider the next time you are looking for a used Linux laptop.

Another funny thing where Linux shines is file operations. When downloading large games via Steam, the fans turn up quite a bit on Windows 11. On Linux, the system is completely unimpressed. Whatever Windows does there, it's not very efficient.

What I have also come to appreciate about my lean Debian stable is that there are no updates every day (or even several times a day) that require a reboot. As is the case with Fedora or Arch. I also find this very pleasant because it doesn't constantly interrupt my work. Yes, comfort comes with age.

Hrmm, Jellyfin Nginx 1.28 don't seem to play well with each other. Not 100% sure what's going on, but if you reboot the server then it doesn't really come back online without poking the services with the ol' `systemctl` command. Rolling back to Nginx 1.24 fixes this issue. I'll troubleshoot later, but very weird.

But, what makes me particularly proud and happy - with all the thinking over the last few days about what to do with Linux, returning to Fedora was never an issue! In the end, it was a decision between Debian and Arch, two distributions that couldn't be more different. But I opted for stability over up-to-dateness. Better safe than sorry.
