Does someone have any pointers for a crashing system?
I suspect that it is related to the GPU, especially under heavy load.
It is an Intel Xe GPU in a Dell Latitude 7450 notebook.
Unfortunately nothing shows up in the journal.
I have to wait for the diagnostic LED code again. Looking at the manual, it seems I remembered it wrong.

Speaking of which: I’ve been back on Debian for a few days now. In the meantime, there have been a few updates—maybe they fixed the keyboard issue? I don’t know. But in any case, it’s working fine now without any problems or keys getting stuck.

I was watching a game via streaming on my browser, and my CPU was running at 78–80 °C (it's an old laptop).
If you inspect the page in Firefox and select the "Network" tab, you can find the video's URL. All you have to do is open that URL in mpv, and your computer will run much more smoothly and, in my case, with a CPU temperature 12 degrees lower.

Okay, I have never in all my years seen a piece of consumer hardware that advertised #Linux support on the front of the box. Yes, I've seen it in small text on the back or side of the box, or in the instruction manual, or somewhere else out of the way, but this is unambiguously "we support linux!". Wild.

A small tweak for the Windows 11 box. I don't want to click start and then the power option and then shutdown. I want something similar to my #linux machines.
I created a shortcut and made a shortcut on the taskbar. Simple icon change too.
Command was shutdown /s /t 0. That does an immediate shutdown. Not the prettiest, but it works.

Tech companies seem to be running a cycle:
1. They don't realize how much they're relying on volunteer-maintained projects.
2. Something bad happens and they suddenly decide they need to support this critical infrastructure, often by hiring some people behind it and making its maintenance part of their dayjob.
3. They realize they could save money by exploiting volunteers to maintain these #OpenSource projects. They lay workers off or move them to other projects.
4. Go to 1.
Except now they're trying to replace workers with slop machines, deskill everyone and basically they're not only poisoning the well, but killing the whole water cycle. And they're realizing that they just gave the bad people a tool that can quickly find just how vulnerable their critical infrastructure is.
Really appreciate the long-term thinking there.

This morning I did a full backup of /home, reformatted that partition on the laptop as btrfs, and restored. Apart from nearly forgetting to update fstab with the new UUID it went seamlessly, although took a couple of hours.
Anyway I now have all the inodes I could ever want, as well as all the other btrfs goodness.

I've finally finished pushing the latest update for #Gentoo Distribution Kernels, and requested their stabilization. This includes upstream releases 7.0.9, 6.18.32, 6.12.90 and 6.6.140; and Gentoo patch bumps 6.1.173_p1, 5.15.207_p1 and 5.10.256_p1.
All of these contain the v5 #Fragnesia patch. And yes, while the exploit is in the wild, upstream still hasn't merged a fix to the mainline kernel, let alone all the LTS branches. Of course, the patch keeps covering more holes, but it would really be preferable to do that as a followup instead of leaving people vulnerable and forcing us to keep rebasing it.
They also include a few reverts in 6.18 and 6.6 for broken PowerPC backports that upstream didn't apparently test. 🤷
We're doing our best, but I'd still recommend running the latest 7.0.x kernel, or LTS 6.18.x, because upstream is far from reliable with the backports.

Ich nutze schon ne längere Zeit Linux Mint und bin bisher auch sehr zufrieden, nur seit der Rel. 22.3 ist der Download von Patches sehr langsam, eher modemmässig langsam und das meine ich wortwörtlich.
Ich hab keinen Schimmer woran es liegen kann, hab auch die Mirros gewechselt und auch einiges nachgelesen, nichts hat geholfen.
Hat jemand ähnliche Probleme ?
