Of size, and governance, revisited
Malta has sixty eight local government regions; Luxembourg one hundred and two; Iceland sixty one; Norway, with a population comparable to our own, three hundred and seventy two. The average number of inhabitants of a municipality across the whole of the EU is 22,455. Thus the average Scottish local authority has more than six times the population of the average European equivalent, and more than one hundred times the population of one in Czechia. Malta has 68 local government regions;
Luxembourg has 102;
Iceland has 61;
Scotland has 32 (and the #SNP wants even fewer).
What the hell *is* wrong with us?

If it's the #SNP's view that Scotland would be better served with fewer 'local' government entities, isn't the corollary of that be that Britain would be better served by fewer 'national' government entities?
