#Carbonatites from Ol Doinyo Lengai, #Tanzania — An unusual rock as analog for #Mercury as potential species for hollow formation: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0019103526001399 -> A Unique African Volcano Could Solve a Mystery on Mercury: https://eos.org/articles/a-unique-african-volcano-could-solve-a-mystery-on-mercury - new data from Ol Doinyo Lengai in Tanzania suggest that carbon-rich volcanic activity could be responsible for the mysterious “hollows” observed on the surface of Mercury.

Three #planets in the evening sky over #Regensburg, Germany, today, when the Sun was 9° below the horizon and #Mercury - in the lower right, above the crane - 5° above the horizon. At that time it was also an easy naked-eye object, joining the pair of #Jupiter and #Venus on the left. After some rain during the day the atmosphere was superbly clear!
