I tried a new bike route to work today. I originally planned this due to some upcoming road closures but I really like it!
Minimal contact with cars and busy roads (except for the last 1.4 miles) and I get to use the new separated bike lane on Lisbon Avenue.

Naked bike ride is gonna get cheeky
The World Naked Bike Ride organizes in Milwaukee on Saturday.

Because of a river, railroad tracks, freeway, and cemetery, this might be the most direct path for me to bike to work.
Some of it is separated bike lane, some is multi-use path, some is residential streets, and some is terrible roads with speeding cars.

I saw this on the way home from the gym, last night. One gas station is advertising $5.29 gas and the other is advertising $5.95 gas. They are across from each other in the same intersection. If I drove a gaser, I would have stopped for 10 gallons. It's only going up.

It's going to be a few years before a protected bike lane gets added to Burleigh and I hate riding on it first thing in the morning on the way to work but...
I realized today that if these two cemetery gates are open (yellow) then I can ride through the cemetery (red) to get to the bike lane on Lisbon instead of Burleigh (blue), which is much better.

This is great news! I’ve been using the new protected bike lane on Lisbon Avenue but it’s difficult to get to the start of it without taking the lane on Burleigh with fast vehicular traffic on your tail.
"W. Burleigh Street would also gain a protected bike lane. The Burleigh Street bike lane would run along the street as it passes Holy Cross Cemetery and Lincoln Memorial Cemetery between N. 60th and N. 72nd streets."

Traditionally, they haven't needed to be air conditioned because they didn't hold classes in the summer and that is when it is the hottest outside. The hot weather season getting longer and hotter now, though.

The red lines are my two options to get from one yellow dot to the other on my commute to work. Ideally a protected bike lane along the blue line would be ideal.
Who knows? Maybe it'll happen in the next 20 years.
(I really wish I could cut through the cemetery but Pinelawn doesn't have multiple entrances/exits like Holy Cross does.)

This is the shortest route to work I've biked yet... It's not ideal as I need to go about a half block on Mayfair Road, then turn left onto Hampton and get into the bike lane on the right side, but good to know I have this route if I need it.

I just got the update that it's been cleaned up.
I took about a minute out of my day to do something that benefits everyone using this road.
I know it's cool to shit on (city) government but this is how things should work.
