A few days ago we went to some thrift stores and at the Mormon one the workers there sorted the books by color so it's a rainbow on the shelves and I wonder if that's an act of disobedience

Indirect CW: religious abuse, divorce
Just finished "Visitations" by Corey Egbert, a really powerful fictionalized graphic autobiography about a kid growing up in a cult-adjacent situation. It's more about his specific parent than the Mormon Church, but of course his mom's problems are symbiotic with and amplified through faith.

According to the genealogy-obsessed Mormons, I am descended from at least four Crusader kings of Jerusalem. So I'm watching a Great Courses video to better understand the Crusades.
I was not expecting such theological weirdness. Mind-boggling.

Halfway through reading "Mister Magic" by Kiersten White and really enjoying it. I was intrigued by the horror premise and the thought of a nostalgic children's show with little evidence of its existence despite its many decades run. The clencher was that I heard the author was exploring her religious trauma after leaving Mormonism.
This description opening a scene just made me laugh out loud. "A man like mayonnaise in human form stalks towards them."

For a brief time Friday, the familysearch genealogy database, owned by the Mormons, said I was descended from Odin.
Somebody deleted it but for a time I found that just insanely funny.
