I've seen the first one when it came out and I'm skipping straight ahead to no. 7, the last one starring the late Paul Walker. It's not hard to follow the plot despite references to enemies and deaths from previous movies.

If an actor is cast to be a character then it is probably because that seemed like a good fit to the director.
