#MusicWomenWednesday this week is Portland, Oregon's HERR GOD. They have a couple EPs, one even from May, before the two songs they put out in June here. Some of it's fairly sad.. kind of a bedroom lofi slowcore shoegaze kinda thing. Nice simple songs, catchy as hell. Like a sadder, slower That Dog. Love that tape hiss!

A fantastic folk duo from Nova Scotia with one of their more powerful tunes for #MusicWomenWednesday this week.

Re-doing a #MusicWomenWednesday from 2024, as the video I'd linked to disappeared and I had to grab a new one.
When I was a kid in the 90s, I had a Wax Trax video compilation on VHS that had this great cover of Patsy Cline's "Walking After Midnight" done by Los Angeles' BRAINDEAD SOUND MACHINE. This was the first way I ever heard this song, and I'm crazy about th…

For #MusicWomenWednesday this week, I'm not usually into very chill, very nice music, but this new EP 'Moments' by London's Noé Solange is very much that. Love her voice and the production and everything. Four very smooth, shimmering songs.

For this week's #MusicWomenWednesday, something fairly brutal and excellent- Glasgow's UNMAKING and their debut EP 'Absolute Immiseration'. This is like, blackened sludge -- some VERY intense shit. Heavy as hell. Vocalist Kay Logan's voice is roaring and screeching.. I keep coming back to this one.

For #MusicWomenWednesday this week, a record I've been listening to lately- the new LP 'Jane of Preoccupied America' by Richmond, Virginia's ADDED DIMENSIONS, which is singer-songwriter Sarah Everton (known for Philadelphia projects Blowdryer, Telepathic and Reading Rainbow) and her husband Rob Garcia on drums. Catchy, simple fuzzy bedroom punk/garage pop songs. Slight Sonic You…

I featured That Dog's 1997 masterpiece 'Retreat from the Sun' a year ago for #MusicWomenWednesday, but since I determined yesterday thanks to @…'s album of year posts that it's my favorite record of 1997, I'm re-upping it. I have it …

The cover of That Dog's 1997 album Retreat from the Sun. It has the band's logo in all lowercase at the top, and the album's name (also all lowercase) at the bottom. The middle is a closeup of Anna Waronker's eye and some of her hair over it. Her eyebrow. It's a damn cool and unforgettable album cover.

It's #MusicWomenWednesday again, and the self titled debut EP by Spike (the synthpop project of UK artist Hannah McLoughlin) is a treat. The first track is a wild, synthy cover of Warren Zevon's 'Werewolves of London', and the other tracks are excellent catchy earworms full of cool hooks. An EP that goes by too fast. Would love an LP of this.

Stumbled across this gem the other day, perfect for #MusicWomenWednesday. Condor44 was formed in 1999 by guitarist/vocalist Hiroshi Sasaki and drummer Nobuyuki Ajima who met while attending college. They put out a couple records in the early 2000s and are supposedly still together.. this is the excellent title track "db" from their 2002 record of same name.
