Closeup photo of a Large Marble butterfly, possibly Euchloe ausonides, perched on a flower having some lunch. The butterfly is mainly white, with an abstract pattern of green and black blotches on the underside of one wing, and black stippling on the topside of the other wing, giving it a “marbeled” appearance, and hence its name. A mountain lake with deep green water in front of a steep talus slope and vertical rock face going up hundreds of meters directly behind. The lower parts near the lake are covered in dense bushes of dwarf mountain pines and some larches, all faintly reflected on the lake surface.
