Come on, just one more video how to bend the 'Wiener Geflecht' to a cylinder because why not.
It feels like coding/modeling the #3d object with #OpenSCAD is more fun then #3dprinting is. Althou…

Here's my #wrapstodon 2025. I guess #OpenSCAD was a topic for me. Nice feature, maybe it will inspire me to be a little more active at here at toot.community

I am currently revising my ‘Path-to-Circle Projection’ in #OpenSCAD.

I'm still learning #OpenSCAD. This part, the lower knuckle for the four-bar linkage of the #Tricycle, isn't as smooth and aerodynamic as I'd like. But it's good enough, certainly for now.
The blue colour is just to make it easier to work with; the finished part will probably be c…

A CAD drawing of the lower knuckle of the four bar linkage. The body of the knuckle is an aerofoil teardrop in plan, with a radiused top and a rounded bottom.
A boss on the outer (left) side surrounds the hole for the wheel axle. On the inner (right) side is an aerofoil stub to which the aerofoil section lower bar will be bonded. In the top of the knuckle is a radiused cavity in which the pivot on the lower end of the lateral bar will rotate.

The part, which is coloured blue with yellowish-gre…
A view of the same part from in front. The hole for the shaft on which the lateral bar pivot will rotate can be seen.
The same part viewed from the lower front left.
The part in context. The lateral bar, wheel, and brake disk can all be seen, as can the lower bar, although this doesn't yet correctly join to the knuckle.

I think I need to get more involved in OpenSCAD, or maybe just try to learn more about how to best us it, and improve my own workflow. I read a few things today that will really help me out. I will probably write up a blog post about it as well. (I already donate monthly because I use it so much!)

After a week away, I will pick up where I left off. I make the last basket type generic and parameterised with #openscad.
But actually, I want to go back to the Viennese weave and make a round or rounded rectangular basket out of it.
And then the #bambulab hot ends/nozzles and the wood f…

Doing some more weaving with #openscad for another #3dprinting project of mine. Wha does it always look so much easier in the first place?

It went in a completely different direction than I had imagined, but that's fine. The Viennese basket weave will have to wait; I'm going to weave another basket first.

I finished my Vienna canework pattern (Wiener Geflecht), its just a first PoC, maybe it needs some more refactoring before I might think about some round variation.
