Released a small update to my early-stage @… map distributor for locally hosting map files.
It now has a small comfort function for updating map files, based on the ones you already got downloaded from a former release. This helps not having to specify your map files of interest for each new map release.
Small warning: I unified the default storage location to be internally consistent (i.e. it's no longer `comaps_folder/maps` but simply `maps`).

Finally wrote a small Python script/CLI tool to help myself sort the image sequences I want to upload to Panoramax, so that it's easier to quickly clean them.
It's mainly for my own workflow, but in case it's useful for other contributors, I've pushed it out to Codeberg and PyPI too.

Since the last Android release @… allows using a custom server from which to download map files.
This decreases reliance on CoMaps-run infrastructure but is also great for people who live in places with limited internet connectivity, as you can now serve maps from local networks.
To make it easier, I wrote a small CLI tool over the weekend that downloads maps of interest & then serves them locally. A first alpha release for testing is on Codeberg:

It’s been five years since I was elected to the #OpenStreetMap Foundation board becoming the first POC and the first person residing outside the U.S., Canada, and Europe to be elected. I like to think I broke some sort of glass ceiling because the OSMF currently has three POC on the board, and three people based in Africa or Asia.

Spent some time today to use my GPS tracks and geo-located images to improve #OpenStreetMap around the trail to/from Choquequirao.
Next up will be doing the same for the trail to Machu Picchu - and then getting some images from along the way on Wikimedia Commons.

The street names in this part of Queens, New York City, seems deliberately confusing. 🤨🗺️

That's a first for me: A mountain biker keeps vandalising #OpenStreetMap to remove their illegal trails in a natural reserve, and then reaches out via DM to threaten physical violence when reverting their vandalism. The sense of entitlement of some people is just unbelievable…

Today we came back to Cusco from a 5 day hike to Choquequirao. Thanks to @… it was amazing to be able to do some nice offline surveying along the way (around 3400 meters ascended and descended and 50 km walked) despite the fact that there's virtually no reception.
On Monday we'll start the Inca trail and I'll make sure to download all the data in advance too!
