Visited Burpee's Fordhook Farm yesterday in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. I couldn't stop gazing with envy at the tomatoes. Almost all in the 8-foot range, packed with clusters of huge fruit, and showing zero signs of senescing. I've noticed in the last five years or so a marked increase in drivers running red lights in my town (Swarthmore, Pennsylvania) and that many of the vehicles have illegal levels of window tinting. I'm wondering, is it that aggressive (male) drivers are likely to get illegal tinting ... or is it that the tinting induces lawlessness via the anonymity it provides? Or are both factors? I've been listening to podcasts about the Civil War and have been struck by how almost everyone mispronounces Ku Klux Klan, saying "CLUE" for the first part even though there is no "L". Among the offenders are commentators in Ken Burn's The Civil War, everyone on NPR news, and, if memory serves me, characters in the movie, BlacKkKlansman, which is astounding. I found an image from the 1930s that shows that it's not just a modern problem.
