We pushed hard and got the new (to us) tank installed yesterday and it rained last night. Half full already! Woo hoo! #permaculture #retrosuburbia

"#Permaculture: how do we live in place, sustainably, in time?"
Yes, actually, that IS my project: what I'm doing with my life, right now. Building community with the people around me, to build resilience in the face of #ClimateEmergency
Planet: Critical: Resilien…

Little bit of sun and our bananas started ripening in the bag. First of 5 bunches we have on, two ladyfingers, two cavs, and this one a ducasse. #permaculture #retrosuburbia #fromthegarden

A bunch of bananas on a banana palm. Blue sky in the background. The top few hands are very ripe though the rest of the bunch are green.

What a difference a solstice makes to egg production. It's a cold wet day here, the kind of day chooks (chickens if you are not in Aus) hate. But 7 eggs from 10 geriatric chooks. A week ago we were lucky to get 2 eggs a day. I might not be able to sense the lengthening days yet, but they can. #retrosuburbia

Glass bowl full of eggs, some deep briwn, some pale, on a wooden table.

Lots of spring onions in the garden atm so I tried making sourdough Korean scallion pancakes for breakfast. Crispy, flakey, easy, very delicious. #permaculture #retrosuburbia # #fromthegarden

I have to keep remembering that carrots are really not a sub-tropical crop. I plant them all year but the winter ones are so much better. Right plant for the climate and the season. You'd think I'd know that by now.
#fromthegarden #Permaculture

A bunch of carrots held in my dirt covered hand, dirt still on them. Broccoli in the background. The carrots are thick and deep orange.
