A while ago the media reported that most of the long-distance "suburban" trains between #Wrocław and #Poznań will be discontinued, and instead one will have to change trains midway. Irrespective of whether it's actually going to happen, let's consider it.
As you can probably tell by now, I'm not a stranger to changing trains. In fact, there are some direct connections that I do criticize. For example:
• Poznań — Szczecin — Świnoujście, where arriving at Szczecin Główny and turning back to leave the city is a waste of time. It's better to change trains at Szczecin Dąbie.
• Poznań — Krzyż — Kostrzyn, where instead of using a single railbus, you can use a larger EMU for the Poznań — Krzyż segment, and a smaller DMU for Krzyż — Kostrzyn (in fact, only recently the "direct" Poznań — Kostrzyn train involved just that, but it was supposed to be temporary).
However, good matches are the key. Say:
1. Max 10 minutes (when there are no delays) from one train to the other.
2. "Door-to-door" transfer — without having to carry all your luggage across platforms.
3. Reliable connection — if one train is delayed, the other train waits for it (or there are so many alternatives that it doesn't have to).
Can such a thing happen on Poznań — Wrocław route? I have my doubts.
I've been using these trains for years, and I can say this: there is no effort to match train from/to Poznań with other trains in Wrocław. Sometimes the trains depart 10 minutes before the first train from Poznań arrives, sometimes I need to transfer in 10 minutes, and sometimes I have to wait over an hour. And the same in the other direction.
Perhaps things would actually improve if the route is split. Perhaps people would actually care. Maybe even the trains would be fitted better to the timetable in Wrocław. But I find it hard to believe.
EDIT: One final thought — since there is no real reason to split these connections (except for profiteering), why make travellers' lives harder?

The uncertainty principle for #weather #forecast: you can't simultaneously precisely determine the place and the time of a given phenomena.
So if the weather forecast says it'll rain in Poznań today, it actually means that either it will rain Poznań some day, or that it will rain somewhere today.

• poc. PR 88311 Piła — Szczecin, odjechał z 6 minutami opóźnienie ze względu na oczekiwanie na opóźniony pociąg
• poc. IC 88101 Piła — Szczecin, odwołany ze względu na awarię taboru (nie miał ze mną nic wspólnego, ale zapewne moja obecność w Pile wystarczyła)

Me: if I go through Września, I'll be 5 minutes earlier in Poznań, and I'll have a better chance of catching a transfer. But I'd have to run to catch the train to Września.
Me a minute later: the Września – Poznań train is delayed. No point in running, let's just go straight to Poznań.
Me at Poznań Wschód station: oh, the delayed train from Września goes straight to Leszno, so it is my transfer.
Fortunately, our train went first, so I could easily transfer at the main station.

• KW 70837 Leszno — Poznań train, delayed 7 minutes in Kościan
• PR 78941 Poznań — Kołobrzeg train, delayed 8 minutes in Oborniki Wlkp., increased to 10 minutes
• PR 88311 Piła — Szczecin train, departed 6 minutes later because of waiting for a delayed train
• IC 88101 Piła — Szczecin train, cancelled because of train failure (I didn't have anything to do with this train, but I guess my proximity sufficed to break it)

Ja: jak pojadę przez Wrześnię, to będę 5 minut wcześniej w Poznaniu, więc będę miał lepszą perspektywę przesiadki. Ale musiałbym biec, żeby złapać pociąg do Wrześni.
Ja chwilę później: u, ten z Wrześni do Poznania jest opóźniony. Jednak nie ma sensu biec, pojadę bezpośrednio.
Ja na stacji Poznań Wschód: o, ten opóźniony z Wrześni jedzie prosto do Leszna, więc to jest moja przesiadka.
Szczęśliwie, nas puścili pierwszych, więc ze spokojem się przesiadłem na Głównym.

#Poznań naprawdę musi coś zrobić z odbiorem odpadów komunalnych. Widocznie problem jest tak wielki, że ludzie muszą chodzić od śmietnika do śmietnika, żeby wyrzucać tekstylia.

Jakiś czas temu media straszyły, że zlikwidowana zostanie większość par pociągów R między Wrocławiem, a Poznaniem, i zastąpią je połączenia z przesiadkami. Abstrahując od tego, czy w końcu to nastąpi, czy nie, rozważmy taki scenariusz.
Jak nietrudno zauważyć, przesiadki nie są mi obce. Ba, są relacje, w których wręcz krytykuję bezpośrednie połączenia. Na przykład:
• Poznań — Szczecin — Świnoujście, gdzie wjazd na Szczecin Główny i nawrotka to strata czasu. Lepszym rozwiązaniem je…

#Poznań really needs to do something about garbage retrieval. Apparently it's so dysfunctional that people have to walk and throw their old clothes into random trash bins on the street.

Ja: zapomniałem wziąć croissanta, ale nie jest źle, bo w sumie nie jestem dziś tak głodny.

Dobrze, że wcześniej sprawdziłem — dziś będziemy zaliczać malowniczą trasę Piła — Krzyż — Poznań.

Good that I've checked early. Today I'm going to take the scenic Piła — Krzyż — Poznań route.
