How can I turn on -O in scp as default? Some linux distributions have gone off the rails. scp -rp doesn't work anymore. #scp

Because some of the replies, while good, have wandered a bit off the rails, please consider:
1. “We should study and learn from how Hypercard lowered the barrier to entry to programming.”
2. “Hypercard or something like it would be unsuitable for many / most modern applications.”

My message to Senators:
❝The correct amount of funding for not just ICE but the •entire Department of Homeland Security• is zero. ZERO. You heard me: the entire agency. Under current leadership, it is off the rails. It is dangerous. It it a menace.
