Well, the state of the German railways is poor, so there’s no shortage of schadenfreude from abroad. But at least in Germany there’s a timetable with trains running at least every hour on most routes.

remembering that time I was at a trade-conference and I walked by a CP Rail booth, looked at a couple of their brochures and then turned to a lady behind the table and said.
"my preference would be that the government run the railways”
and then walked away.

So I'm reading the changelog for the Polish railways' Passenger's Portal app (i.e. checking what they broke), and it turns out that the developers discovered compression.
I mean, the app's been updating "dictionaries" practically every single day for years (surely available stations change frequently), and they weren't even compressed! What's next? Discovering Last-Modified and refetching only if something actually changes?!
