Protestors inside the Tennessee state capitol in Nashville; Thursday, May 7th, 2026. The Republican-supermajority legislature voted to split Memphis’s congressional seat, long held by Democrats, among three safe Republicans districts. Memphis, particularly Black Memphis, lost its representation. One protestor has a sign that says “GOP = KKK.” My dumb ass is there holding a “Leave Memphis Alone” sign upside down 🙃
